It’s a cold February morning on the Johnson Valley dry lake bed, and the air is ripe with anticipation for the first rallycross event of the 2008 season. The 505 Motorsports Rally RS is locked and loaded, ready to do battle in the Street Modified 4WD class. I have long admired Rally Armor’s terrific products, seeing them on the “Dirty STI” of Aaron Ekinaka (founder of DirtyImpreza.com), and couldn’t wait for the day that I could rock them myself. Rally Armor is all about off-road vehicle protection. From mudflaps to skidplates they have everything to suit the protection needs of Subaru rally fanatics. The 505 Motorsports Rally RS was recently outfitted with Rally Armor’s GC8 UR mudflaps and I couldn’t be happier. Upon first inspecting the mudflaps I was able to tell that I was dealing with a quality product and company. Rally Armor provided all the necessary hardware to mount the flaps on my vehicle and it is apparent that they have done their homework. The mounting hardware supplied is mostly plastic, which is a good thing. You will never have to worry about losing one of your mudflaps due to hardware rusting through.
The install of the Rally Armor GC8 Mudlaps was a snap. Using existing mounting points I was able to install all 4 of them in about 45 minutes. I was amazed at how easy the install process went but hey, you’re dealing with Rally Armor. They know what they’re doing!! Now you may ask yourself, why get the UR Mudflaps over other types of mudflaps? The answer is flexibility! The UR Mudflaps are made from flexible urethane which allows them to flex when needed and still maintain their shape unlike other mudflaps. Most other mudflaps are made of hard plastic and eventually will bend after bottoming out too many times, thus inhibiting them from performing to their full potential.
I am thoroughly impressed with Rally Armor and the products that they produce, specifically the UR Mudflaps. I have already noticed a difference in the appearance of my vehicle due to UR Mudflaps. Normally after an event at Johnson Valley my vehicle is thoroughly covered in silt, but the UR Mudflaps have greatly helped reduce the amount of dirt on the old RS. This also means fewer dings and dents typically incurred when I am blazing desert trails practicing for my eventual stage rally debut. So do yourself a favor all you GC lovers and pick up a set of these Rally Armor UR Mudflaps. They look and perform great!! I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!
